A few questions, Mr. Torpey

A inizio della prossima settimana avrò il piacere di cointervistare Pat Torpey, batterista - tra gli altri - dei Mr. Big. Non posso rivelare il nome della rivista, e l'intervista non sarà pubblicata come tale (sarà invece la base per un più generico articolo sulla reunion del gruppo), tuttavia riporto di seguito le domande che verranno fatte. In questi casi si rimane comprensibilmente in ambiti piuttosto ovvi.

What kind of feelings did you experience being back together in a studio after so long? 16 years are not just the blink of an eye!

What about telling us something about the new album? It sounds complete, and if I may say, with a typical Mr. Big sound. I mean, the new tracks range from romantic ballads to hard rock songs, in both cases extremely well composed and produced. Is the material all new or are there any tracks fished out from the past?

Does the new album contain any special message? I wonder, for example, what’s the meaning of that whitish pig with wings appearing on the cover.

How would you describe your experinece working with Kevin Sherley?

I think that Undertow is one of the best singles you have ever made. How did it come to life?

There is still a lot of technical skills in the tracks, with bass and guitar continuously interweaving. Everything reminds me of Lean Into It, am I wrong? Time stood still?

Let’s now talk about your re-union and about your new incredible tour. Were you expecting such an enthusiastic reaction from the audience after so many years?

What do you think are the ingredients in the music of Mr. Big that have remained unchanged since you beginnins?

And what do you think about the hard rock scene nowadays? It’s seems the sound of the ‘80s and ‘90s is coming back again.

Your live shows are unbelievable. Are you planning to tour Europe to promote the new album? In that case are you coming to Milano too?

Are your solo-projects temporary frozen or is all that part of a past and not coming back anymore? I think that when you are all four together then you are the ones and only!
